Hoeven Statement on Passage of the Vow to Hire Heroes Act For Veterans

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate’s passage of the Vow To Hire Heroes Act, which will provide veterans with additional job training and assistance, as well as a hiring tax credit to businesses to help veterans find employment after their service. The measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support:

“When our men and women in uniform return home from defending our principles and our country, their skills and work ethic should help them find good jobs as they integrate back into civilian life. The legislation we passed today provides an environment that will help our veterans find employment in what continues to be a difficult economic situation. This amendment is another way of saying thank you to them and their families, a way of showing them that we appreciate their sacrifices and care about what happens when they come home.”

As a member of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven has worked to secure federal funding for programs benefitting veterans.
