Hoeven Statement on Agreement to Fund the Government

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven released the following statement today after Congress passed legislation to fund the government through January 19. In addition to keeping the government operating, the agreement provides funding for the Veterans Choice program, extends the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), funds Community Health Centers, and provides additional defense funding to detect and defend against the use of ballistic missiles. Additionally, the legislation waives pay-go requirements, which have never been enforced, to ensure that tax reform does not lead to program cuts.

“This legislation funds the government, provides funding to ensure we care for our veterans, and extends important programs, including CHIP and funding for Community Health Centers.”
