Hoeven, Heitkamp and Cramer to Hold Service Academy Informational Evening in Bismarck

WASHINGTON – The offices of Senator John Hoeven, Senator Heidi Heitkamp and Congressman Kevin Cramer will be hosting an informational Service Academy Evening at the Raymond J. Bohn Armory in Bismarck on May 24th. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will feature representatives from the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy and Military Academy-West Point.

“As Members of Congress, we are glad to be able to nominate North Dakota’s best students to attend our nation’s prestigious service academies,” Hoeven said. “During this informational evening, representatives from our offices will be on hand to answer questions from potential applicants and provide them with the resources they need to apply to a service academy. We encourage any interested North Dakota students to come meet with academy representatives and learn more about attending these institutions.”

“It’s such an honor to nominate North Dakota’s brightest to attend our military service academies,” Heitkamp said. “This event is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the application process and to hear about the outstanding education the service academies offer. Any student or family interested in the military service academies should come out to learn more from our staff and academy representatives.”

“North Dakota’s small population puts our young men and women at a competitive advantage to be accepted to our military service academies,” Cramer said. “Whether you have aspired to be in one of the academies for years or this is your first time considering the possibility, our fact-gathering event will help you make an informed decision.”

North Dakota residents interested in attending a service academy must be unmarried United States citizens with no dependents and at least 17 years old but not past their 23rd birthday on July 1st the year of admittance. The application deadline is October 13, 2017, and applicants are strongly encouraged to apply to all North Dakota Congressional offices.
