Hoeven Announces More Than $290,000 Grant to Expand All Nations Veterans Cemetery in Fort Yates

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a $291,060 grant to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The funds will be used to expand the All Nations Veterans Cemetery in Fort Yates, developing approximately eight acres. Last year, the VA provided a $4.9 million grant to build the cemetery.

“Native Americans serve in the military at a higher rate per capita than any other ethnic group,” said Hoeven. “We are committed to honoring our veterans and today’s funding will ensure that the families of veterans from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and surrounding region have a proper place to remember their loved ones.”
