Hoeven: VA Providing $4.9 Million Grant to Build New All Nations Cemetery Near Fort Yates

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, today announced that the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will receive $4.9 million in funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to build the All Nations Veterans Cemetery near Fort Yates, which will serve 2,264 tribal Veterans and their families.

“This new Veterans cemetery will help ensure our tribal Veterans receive the recognition they deserve for their selfless service and are laid to rest with honor,” said Hoeven.

The funding will be used to develop an eight acre cemetery, with 128 pre-placed single depth crypts, 28 standard full casket sites, 12 cremated remains gravesites, as well as a main entrance, administration building, maintenance building, roads, an assembly shelter, a committal shelter, landscaping and supporting infrastructure.
