WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement marking the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“September 11, 2001, was a tragic day for our nation, and even 24 years later, we continue to remember and honor those we lost. We pay tribute to the victims and their families, express our deep appreciation for the first responders who acted with such bravery, and recognize the men and women of our Armed Forces who answered the call to defend our country. Their service and sacrifice have helped keep our nation safe, and we must always remember that our freedom is never free.”
