Hoeven Statement in Observance of Memorial Day

Senator Marks Memorial Day at ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan

MANDAN, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day, honoring those servicemembers who lost their lives in defense of the nation. Senator Hoeven provided remarks during the Memorial Day Ceremony at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery (NDVC).

“On Memorial Day, we pause to remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the men and women who laid down their lives in defense of our nation. Because of their sacrifice, generations of Americans have continued to live in freedom and opportunity.” said Hoeven. “Today, we also stand with the families and loved ones they left behind, offering our deepest gratitude and support. As we gather in communities across North Dakota and throughout our nation, may we recommit ourselves to living in a way that honors those heroes. May we remember them not just today, but every day.”

In his role on the Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Committee, Hoeven continues to champion North Dakota’s federal, state, and tribal veterans cemeteries. This includes his work to improve the NDVC and to expand and develop new facilities at Fargo National Cemetery, ensuring veterans and their families receive the recognition they have rightfully earned.
