Hoeven: Senate Approves Budget Resolution To Fund Law Enforcement, Border Security

Legislation Advances Reconciliation Process to Fully Fund DHS For Three Years

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate approved a budget resolution that enables the Senate Judiciary and Senate Homeland Security Committees to draft reconciliation legislation to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security, including border security and law enforcement, for three years.

“Democrats have refused to fund the Department of Homeland Security as part of their mission to defund law enforcement. Given that, we’re working through reconciliation to fund DHS, and this budget resolution is the first step in fully funding our law enforcement and border security,” said Hoeven. “Importantly, this budget resolution will enable us to fund DHS for three years, so we can prevent this from happening again and ensure that our law enforcement has the resources necessary to secure the border and enforce our laws.”
