FARGO, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven, Senator Kevin Cramer and Congressman Kelly Armstrong today announced that their offices will host an informational Service Academy Evening at the Fargo Armed Forces Reserve Center on June 13 starting at 6:00 p.m. The event will provide students with information about the application and appointment process for the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“As members of Congress, we are honored to nominate some of North Dakota’s best and brightest students to attend our nation’s service academies,” Hoeven said. “This informational evening will help provide potential applicants with the information and resources they need to apply to the U.S Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. We encourage any interested North Dakota students to come learn more about attending these prestigious institutions.”

“North Dakota’s military community is a source of pride in our state and a defining part of our culture. I am honored to help those in the next generation who answered the call to serve as they embark on this great adventure, and I hope this informational evening helps all who are interested in learning more about the opportunities available to them,” said Cramer.

“With storied histories, time-honored traditions, and reputations for excellence, U.S. service academies provide accepted cadets with a world-class education and training to become the future leaders of our armed forces. As members of Congress, it’s our honor to nominate North Dakotans to attend. At this informational meeting, staff members from each of our offices will be on hand for any interested applicants to learn more about the academies and the nomination process,” said Armstrong.

The event is open to North Dakota students in grades 8-12 interested in attending a U.S. service academy, including Class of 2020 high school seniors or other eligible candidates.
