Hoeven Welcomes Summer Interns to His Offices in Washington, D.C., Bismarck & Fargo

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that six students – Chelsea Brandt, Paige Hill, Ian Kalil, Theodore Milk, Judson Mork and Isabella Sogard – are interning in his Washington, D.C. office this summer. Two other students are interning in his state offices: McKenna Arledge in Bismarck and Lauren Wenaas in Fargo. Senator Hoeven’s internship program provides college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to work with the senator and his staff on legislative, communications and administrative projects. 

“We welcome Isabella, Judson, Theodore, Ian, Paige and Chelsea to our D.C. office, Lauren to our Fargo office and McKenna to our Bismarck office this summer,” Hoeven said. “Over the next few months, this group will have many opportunities to learn more about our federal government and specifically our legislative branch. We hope that these experiences will complement and enrich their academic pursuits, while also helping to lay the groundwork for their future careers. We thank them for their commitment to serve me and my office as well as the people of North Dakota.”

McKenna Arledge

McKenna Arledge is from Missoula, Mont. and is a junior at the University of Mary. She is majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. In addition to her studies, McKenna plays on the Marauders women’s basketball team.

Chelsea Brandt

Chelsea Brandt is from Fargo and is the daughter of Tyler Brandt and Kimberlee Moen. She is a senior at the University of Colorado where she is majoring in Psychology and Literature. Chelsea plans to attend law school.

Paige Hill

Paige Hill grew up in Park Rapids, Minn. and attends North Dakota State University (NDSU) where she is majoring in Political Science with a minor in Strategic Communication. She is an active member of the Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Sigma Alpha honor societies at NDSU. Paige wants to begin a career in public service after she graduates in December 2018. 

Ian Kalil

Ian Kalil is the son of Dan and Kathy Kalil and was born and raised in Williston. He is a junior at the University of Minnesota, where he is studying English and Political Science. Ian is a member of the Zeta Psi Fraternity and plans to pursue a career in the U.S. Foreign Service.

Theodore Milk

Theodore grew up in Las Vegas, Nev. and is a junior at the University of Jamestown where he plays football and is the president of the university’s College Republicans. He is majoring in Political Science and minoring in History.

Judson Mork

Judson Mork is the son of Jason Mork and Stacy Klarquist and grew up in Dickinson. He is a senior at Oklahoma State University where he is majoring in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Philosophy. During the school year, Judson hosts a radio political talk show, helps as a teaching and research assistant and is involved in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature.

Isabella Sogard

Isabella Sogard grew up in Williston and is the daughter of Pat and Tammy Sogard. She is a junior at the University of Minnesota where she studies Political Science and Journalism with a focus in Strategic Communications.

Lauren Wenaas

Lauren Wenaas is from Fargo and is the daughter of Michael and Kirsten Wenaas. She is a sophomore at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. where she is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business. Lauren is also a part of the college’s Pre-Law Society and plans to attend law school or work in the political field.

Senator Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices. North Dakota students interested in applying for the program should submit an application online.
