Hoeven Welcomes Interns to His Washington, D.C. and Fargo Offices

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that five students are interning in his Washington, D.C. and Fargo offices. Alaura Williams of Fargo, Benjamin Jacob of Waconia, Minn., Christian Anheluk of Medora and Todd Moellenkamp of Lisbon have joined the senator’s Washington, D.C. office and Ander Sawchuk of Fargo has joined the senator’s Fargo office. Senator Hoeven’s internship program provides college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to work with the senator and his staff on legislative, communications and administrative projects.

“We are happy to have Ben, Alaura, Christian and Todd with us in D.C. and Ander working at our office in Fargo,” Hoeven said. “Our interns help me and my staff in many ways. We appreciate their commitment to serve North Dakota and our nation, and we hope their experiences will help them continue to grow in their academic and professional pursuits.”

Alaura Williams

Alaura is from Fargo and is a junior at Minnesota State University of Moorhead. She is the daughter of Angela Williams and Harold Turner. Alaura is studying political science and criminal justice and is planning to attend law school.

Ander Sawchuk

Ander is from Fargo and is the son of Ted and Jana Sawchuk. He is interning in Senator Hoeven’s Fargo office. Ander is a junior at North Dakota State University (NDSU) where he is majoring in Finance, Global Business and Spanish and minoring in Arabic. Ander runs a window cleaning company and is the Director of Risk Management of Delta Tau Delta fraternity at NDSU. He intends to pursue higher education in international business.

Benjamin Jacob

Ben grew up in Waconia, Minn. and served for four years in the U.S. Air Force after completing high school. During his time in the military, he was primarily assigned to security forces units including an overseas deployment. Following his military service, Ben moved to Grand Forks to study at the University of North Dakota (UND). Ben is a former president of UND’s College Republicans and is actively involved in Chi Alpha campus ministries. He will be graduating from UND in May with a degree in political science. Ben is the son of Roy and Anne Jacob.

Christian Anheluk

Christian is a junior at North Dakota State University (NDSU) studying Economics and Finance. Christian, the son of Jerry and Jackie Anheluk, grew up on a cattle ranch near Medora. He is actively involved with the NDSU men’s choir the Statesmen, and works with the National AgriMarketing Association, which is a student organization focused on helping students develop marketing skills.

Todd Moellenkamp

Todd received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UND and a Master’s in Public Affairs from Indiana University. His Master’s studies focused on government’s effects on economies and marketplaces. Todd grew up in Lisbon.

Senator Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices. North Dakota students interested in applying for the program should submit an application online.
