Hoeven: USDA to Finance Rural Water Expansion Projects

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations and Agriculture Committees, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a loan of $2,311,769 to provide financing for rural water expansion to the Granville, Deering and Surrey areas through its Water and Waste Disposal Loan Program.

“This loan will improve rural water systems and upgrade water infrastructure in rural North Dakota, which will provide long-term economic benefits,” Hoeven said. “Our state is enjoying a thriving economy, and it’s important to ensure that our rural areas receive the support they need to continue to succeed and grow.”

As a member of the conference committee that crafted the final version of the 2014 farm bill, Hoeven worked to reauthorize water and infrastructure programs to help rural communities ensure safe and reliable water systems. The senator pushed through the Appropriations Committee for funding the USDA’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program in the 2014 budget, which includes the Water and Environmental Program.
