Hoeven: USDA Awards $500,000 to NDSCS to Support Workforce Training for Local Meat Processors

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has awarded $500,000 to North Dakota State College of Science. Today’s funding will be used to provide career and technical training to expand the meat processing workforce, with an emphasis on supporting small scale, local processors.

“By expanding the capacity of local meat processing services, this grant will give ranchers more options for selling their products, while benefitting consumers through greater competition and more access to high-quality food,” said Hoeven.
