Hoeven Statement on the Passing of Nathan 'Paul' Goodiron

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in honor of today’s memorial service for Nathan ‘Paul’ Goodiron:

“Paul dedicated his life to serving our country, beginning with his service in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and continuing through his efforts to ensure that our veterans get the support they need once they come home. His own military service and his love for his son Cpl. Nathan J. Good Iron, who tragically passed away while serving in Afghanistan in 2006, inspired him to work tirelessly for our men and women in uniform to make sure they are treated with the dignity and gratitude they earned and deserve.

“I had the opportunity to meet with Paul to discuss how we can honor our vets, and I was deeply moved by his enthusiasm, courage and commitment. Paul was a true advocate for our service members, and his good works have created a legacy that will live on for years to come.”
