Hoeven Statement on Senate Confirmation of Alex Azar as Secretary of Health and Human Services

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Alex Azar to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. Azar previously served as Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush.

“We look forward to working with Secretary Azar to advance innovative health care solutions that can lower health care costs and increase the quality of care for all Americans. During the confirmation process, the Secretary also outlined his commitment to overcoming the opioid abuse epidemic that is plaguing our nation, and we look forward to partnering with him to ensure that our communities have the tools they need to prevent and overcome the challenges of addiction.”
