Hoeven Statement on NDSU Bison's NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Title Win

FRISCO, TEXAS – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement following the North Dakota State University Bison win over the Sam Houston State Bearkats for the NCAA Division I Championship:

“For the second year in a row, the NDSU Bison have capped a great season with a championship win. The Bearkats played a brave game, but the Bison offense and defense were unbeatable. Congratulations to Coach Bohl, Athletics Director Gene Taylor and NDSU President Dean Bresciani for their outstanding leadership at NDSU, and thanks especially to the Bison players, who performed with real skill and grit today. We also want to thank Coach Willie Fritz and the Bearkats for being outstanding opponents and great hosts.

“It was a real thrill for both Mikey and myself to be at the game with entire Bison nation today. The Bison helped me win my bet with Texas Sen. John Cornyn, and I’m looking forward to digging into those great Texas beefsteaks! Go Bison!”

Senators Hoeven and Cornyn agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of today’s NCAA Division I Championship Subdivision title game. Hoeven wagered North Dakota bison steaks against Cornyn’s Texas beef steaks. The senators often work together on legislative issues.
