Hoeven Statement on Confirmation of Rep. Mick Mulvaney as OMB Director

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate confirmed Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

“Director Mulvaney understands the vital role that a strong economy plays in addressing our nation’s budget challenges, and he has made clear that regulatory relief and a focus on state-led policies are much-needed to boost growth and create jobs. This is how we can best increase government revenues to help balance the budget and fund our priorities.

"In addition, in my private meeting with Director Mulvaney as well as his confirmation hearing, I had the opportunity to stress important priorities for North Dakota, like permanent flood protection for Fargo-Moorhead and Minot. OMB plays an important role in approving these projects, and I look forward to working with him to advance comprehensive flood protection for these regions. At the same time, I will continue my efforts to advance solutions that address the concerns of our neighbors, like Minnesota, and rural communities both upstream and downstream of these projects.”
