Hoeven Statement After Senate Passes Funding to Help Address Border Security Needs

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement after working to secure nearly $4.6 billion in funding requested by the Administration to help address security and humanitarian needs at the border.

“We need to secure the border and enforce the law. We continue working to provide the Administration with the resources and tools necessary to deal with the emergency situation at the border. We approved this funding in a bipartisan manner through the Senate Appropriations Committee last week, because it is vital funding needed to assist our border agents and officers as they work to secure the border, combat human trafficking, stop the flow of drugs into our country and meet the humanitarian needs at the border. At the same time, we still need to close the loopholes in our immigration laws so we can secure the border,” said Hoeven.

Hoeven has been working to provide the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies with tools to enforce the law and control the border, while also continuing to ensure the border wall construction process is transparent and efficient.
