Hoeven Statement After Opposing Senate Democrats Budget Resolution

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after Senate Democrats approved a budget resolution on party lines.

“I opposed the budget resolution approved by Senate Democrats tonight, as it is merely a vehicle to allow the Democrats to advance their $1.9 trillion package on a partisan basis.

“Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve worked to reach agreement with Democrats and passed five bipartisan COVID relief bills. That includes $900 billion in COVID assistance signed into law just over a month ago, funding that is still being disbursed. We need to determine any unmet needs before fast-tracking a partisan package with a $1.9 trillion price tag.”

Hoeven offered amendments on energy, agriculture, military, veterans and other priorities important to North Dakota, but Democrats passed the budget on a party line vote.
