Hoeven Public Events Schedule for the Week of August 15

BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven is holding events throughout North Dakota in August while the U.S. Congress is in recess. Some events are scheduled and others are still being planned. Advisories will be issued as additional events are scheduled. Hoeven’s agenda for public events for the week of Aug. 15 is as follows: 

Tuesday, Aug. 16         

Senator Hoeven, along with Gov. Jack Dalrymple, West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern and Caterpillar leaders, will break ground on a $50 million expansion of the Caterpillar facility in West Fargo.

At 12:30, Senator Hoeven will present Robert Salsman, an Army veteran of the Korean War, with medals honoring his military service.  Hoeven will present Salsman with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award and a United Nations Service Medal.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

At noon, Hoeven will hold a news conference with representatives of North Dakota’s energy sectors, including: Basin Electric CEO Ron Harper; Otter Tail Power CEO Chuck MacFarlane; Petro Serve CEO Kent Satrang; Whiting Petroleum COO James Brown; Tharaldson Ethanol Vice President Russ Newman; Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson Engineers President Niles Hushka; and Tom Lilja, the executive director of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association. Following the news conference, Hoeven will deliver the keynote address at the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 “The State of Energy Summit” at 12:45p.m.  The Senator will discuss the importance of a comprehensive national energy policy in growing the economy and creating jobs.
