Hoeven Honors Mark Nisbet as 2021 Legacy Leader

FARGO, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today addressed the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo (FMWF) Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting, where he helped recognize Mark Nisbet as the Chamber’s 2021 Legacy Leader. Hoeven highlighted Nisbet’s leadership in the region, including as the former principal manager for North Dakota at Xcel Energy, as well as his service on the Chamber’s Business Leaders for Permanent Flood Protection Taskforce and the Downtown Community Partnership.

As Governor, Hoeven named Nisbet to the task force for EmPower ND, the state’s comprehensive energy plan that made North Dakota an energy powerhouse and one of the largest energy producing and exporting states in the nation.

Additionally, the senator stressed the importance of securing comprehensive flood protection for communities in the Red River Valley, thanking Nisbet, as well as the other taskforce members, for their early efforts to advocate for the project with state and federal leaders.

“Congratulations to Mark Nisbet on being named the 2021 Legacy Leader,” said Hoeven. “Mark has been a leader in North Dakota throughout his career, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him to advance important projects for our state. That includes efforts to secure permanent flood protection in the Red River Valley. We’ve made good progress, and continue working to complete this vital project. Mark is very deserving of this award and we thank him for his work on behalf of our state.”
