Hoeven: FEMA to Accept Applications for Emergency Management Performance Grants

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin accepting applications for the FY 2015 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program. North Dakota is approved to receive $3,106,110.

“You can never be too prepared for an emergency,” Hoeven said. “It’s important to ensure that North Dakota has the necessary infrastructure in place in case an emergency strikes, and this funding will provide a system of emergency preparedness to protect people and property from hazards.”

The EMPG is authorized by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Interested applicants must apply for these funds from FEMA, and awards will be released shortly after. Grant guidance for the FY 2015 EMPG will be available at http://www.grants.gov.
