WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the 2016 National Independence Day Parade is seeking applications from high school marching bands interested in representing the State of North Dakota in the annual Independence Day Parade. Hoeven encourages North Dakota high school marching bands to apply through his congressional office to participate in the annual parade held each July 4.

“The annual National Independence Day Parade is a rich tradition that brings Americans together from across the country to participate in a grand celebration of our country’s proud heritage,” Hoeven said. “I encourage North Dakota’s high school marching bands to apply so they can take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The parade, sponsored by the National Park Service, features military and veterans units, marching bands from across the country and impressive floats marching down historic Constitution Avenue.

Parade organizers seek to welcome at least one band from each state.
