Hoeven: DOT Awards More Than $1.3 Million to Enhance Grand Forks International, Barnes County Airports

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded two grants totaling $1,366,514 to Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority and Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority. The funds are awarded as follows:

•      Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority – $1,339,510 – To fund the construction of a new taxiway at Grand Forks International

•      Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority – $27,004 – To fund a wildlife hazard assessment to identify the numbers, locations, movements and daily and seasonal activities of wildlife in the area to ensure safety

“North Dakota’s airports have a real impact on our state’s economy and on our residents’ quality of life,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grants will fund a new taxiway at Grand Forks International to help ensure the airport continues to meet the needs of travelers in the area and efforts to enhance pilot and passenger safety at Barnes County Municipal.”
