Hoeven Donates Books at Dedication of Hoeven Elementary School in Minot

MINOT, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today joined the Minot community to dedicate the new John Hoeven Elementary School and to present books from the Library of Congress (LOC) to help fill the shelves of the new school’s library. The senator thanked the Minot School Board and the community for naming the school in his honor and expressed his appreciation for the good work of the teachers and leaders in Minot schools.

During the dedication, Hoeven presented 167 books to the school. The books include a range of reading levels and both new and classic titles including “Little Golden Book Favorites,” by Richard Scarry and “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll.

Hoeven secured the books through the LOC Surplus Books Program, which makes volumes available for donation to educational institutions, nonprofit tax-exempt organizations and public agencies of local and state governments or other federal agencies.
