Hoeven, Cornyn Settle Wager on Bison, Bearkat Championship Game

WASHINGTON – Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) this week presented Senator John Hoeven (R-N.D.) with Texas beef steaks to settle their friendly wager on the outcome of the NCAA Division I Championship Subdivision title game between the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison and the Sam Houston State Bearkats. Hoeven wagered North Dakota bison steaks against Cornyn’s Texas beef steaks. On January 5, the Bison won the national championship, 39-13, to clinch the title for the second year in a row.

“We appreciate Senator Cornyn for being such a good sport and for bringing us the choicest beef steaks from his home state,” said Hoeven. “We’re very proud of NDSU’s accomplishments and congratulate the coaches, players, administration and fans for capping a tremendous season with a second national championship.”
