Hoeven: Border Security is National Security; Supplemental Funding Bill Needs Strong Border Provisions

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven issued the following statement after Senate Majority Leader Schumer tried to advance a supplemental funding bill without concrete provisions to secure the nation’s southern border.

“I opposed moving forward on the president’s security supplemental request because it does not adequately secure our border. The Biden administration has refused to enforce our immigration laws and has failed to secure the border. Given the record number of individuals illegally crossing our border, any supplemental funding must include concrete border security provisions and should include benchmarks to ensure the administration is enforcing the law. Border security is vital to our national security, and the American people want to know that our border is secure.”
