Hoeven Announces DOJ Funding to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Mountains Plains Youth Services Inc.

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded the following grants:   

  • Standing Rock Sioux Tribe – $900,000 awarded from the Office of Violence Against Women, to respond to and assist victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault as well as ensure perpetrators are held accountable.
  • Mountains Plains Youth Services Inc. – $750,000 awarded from the Office of Justice Programs, to enhance services available to survivors of human trafficking. 

“It’s important that proper services and resources are available in North Dakota to survivors, and these grants will help ensure this support continues to be made available,” said Hoeven.
