Hoeven Announces Almost $340,00 Grant to Support Alliance for Sexual Assault Victims in North Dakota Tribes

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women has awarded $336,976 to the First Nations Women’s Alliance in Devils Lake, a domestic violence and sexual assault coalition supporting North Dakota’s tribes. Today’s grant will be used to fight domestic violence and sexual assault against Indian women which includes enhancing victim services, increasing awareness and helping tribes create tribal domestic abuse policies. The funds are awarded as part of DOJ’s Tribal Coalitions Program.

“Today’s grant will support efforts to keep Indian women throughout North Dakota safe from domestic violence, which will make our tribal communities better and safer places to live,” Hoeven said.
