WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after opposing the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas to be Secretary of Homeland Security.
“I opposed this nomination due to concerns with his record at DHS during the Obama Administration. I believe border security is vital to national security. Based on his past actions at DHS as well as his testimony during his confirmation hearing, I have serious concerns that Secretary Mayorkas will not adequately secure our border or enforce our immigration laws.”
