Homeland Security Committee Hearing with Secretary Nielsen
At a recent Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing, I urged Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to use the Grand Sky UAS park as the agency grows its UAS border security operations and develops counter-UAS capabilities. North Dakota is at the forefront of the UAS industry, which Secretary Nielsen saw firsthand during her visit to our state in August, and the administration is already a strong partner in our UAS efforts. So it only makes sense that federal agencies like DHS continue to rely on our local expertise as they address the latest UAS issues and implement our Preventing Emerging Threats Act. We will continue to monitor these priorities, both to secure North Dakota’s role and to provide any future authority or funding that is needed to move these efforts forward.
