Hoeven Welcomes Miss America 2018 Cara Mund to the Capitol for President's State of the Union

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today welcomed Miss America 2018 Cara Mund as his guest for the State of the Union Address. Mund, who grew up in Bismarck, previously served as an intern for Senator Hoeven.

“We’re pleased to have Cara back in the Capitol for tonight’s State of the Union,” said Hoeven. “She is truly committed to making a difference for other people and a tremendous representative of our state and nation. It’s an honor to have her as my guest this year.”

“It is an honor to represent North Dakota, the Miss America Organization and our nation, as Senator Hoeven’s guest tonight at the State of Union Address,” said Mund. “Having had an opportunity to work in the senator’s office, I was able to be a part of the legislative process. I saw how education and service, fundamental principles of the Miss America Organization, are the forefront of our country’s success.”

Cara, a graduate of Brown University with a degree in Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations, is traveling to cities and communities across the country as Miss America 2018, discussing the importance of education and encouraging young women to use their voice to make an impact and become leaders. She also serves as the official ambassador for the City of Atlantic City as well as Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
