Hoeven: More Than $55 Million Awarded to Grand Forks AFB’s Nathan F. Twining School ProjectPROJECT

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) has awarded more than $55 million to Grand Forks Air Force Base Public School District No.140 as part of a larger $69 million project to build a new Nathan F. Twining Elementary and Middle School on Grand Forks Air Force Base in order to address capacity and condition concerns. Once completed, the new facility will support 500 pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students, while providing students from military families with a high-quality education and a learning environment focused on the principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

“North Dakota is home to some of the nation’s leading U.S. Air Force bases, and it’s vital that our installations have the capacity to support the educational needs of our service members’ families. We worked to fund and advance this OLDCC grant to help ensure that students at Grand Forks Air Force Base receive the high-quality education they deserve,” said Hoeven.

“The Grand Forks Air Force Base is an essential part of our community’s fabric,” said Dr. Terry Brenner, Grand Forks Public Schools Superintendent. “With the support of the OLDCC, we are able to move forward on a school that will serve as a central hub of learning, support, and connection for generations of military families. This new Pre-K–8 building is not just an educational facility—it is a long-term commitment to our Airmen, their dependents, and the unique needs of military life.”
