Hoeven: Dallas Carlson Confirmed as U.S. Marshal for District of North Dakota

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Senate has confirmed Dallas Carlson to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the District of North Dakota. Carlson has served as the director of the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NDBCI) since 2011. 

“The Senate has now confirmed Dallas Carlson to serve as the U.S. Marshal for North Dakota. Dallas has worked in various law enforcement capacities for more than 35 years, most recently serving as the head of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation,” said Hoeven. “Dallas has the right background and expertise, and will continue to serve the people of North Dakota well in this new role.”

Carlson began his 29 year career at NDBCI as a special agent before being promoted to chief agent and finally director of NDBCI. Prior to his time at NDBCI, he worked for the Devils Lake and Mandan police departments and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. Carlson has a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson State University and has trained at the North Dakota Law Enforcement Training Academy, as well as the FBI National Academy. 

Duties of the U.S. Marshal include protecting the federal judiciary, apprehending federal fugitives, managing seized assets, housing and transporting federal prisoners and operating the Witness Security Program.
