FRISCO, TEXAS – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement congratulating the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison football team on winning the FCS national championship with a victory over the James Madison University Dukes.

“Congratulations to the Bison as they capped a great season by winning an incredible sixth national championship in seven years. We also want to congratulate the James Madison Dukes on an excellent season. They played a strong game, and their players, coaches and fans should be proud of their team’s efforts.

“Winning a national championship is not easy. Congratulations to Coach Klieman and his players who continue to exemplify excellence on and off the field. Today’s victory is a testament to their hard work as well as to the leadership of Athletics Director Matt Larsen and NDSU President Dean Bresciani. Mikey, I and all of Bison Nation enjoyed rooting for these young men throughout the year, and it was a thrill for me to be at the game today. Congratulations again on this remarkable achievement. Go Bison!”
