Hoeven Announces More Than $12.1 Million in Loans for North Dakota Organizations

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and a member of the Agriculture Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) has awarded four loans totaling more than $12.1 million to United Tribes Technical College (UTTC), ABLE Inc. in Dickinson, Kindred Community and Rural Fire Protection District and Walhalla Community Hospital Association. Details of the funds are as follows:

  • United Tribes Technical College – $6.9 million loan – The funds will be used to build 36 family housing units on the UTTC campus.
  • ABLE Inc. – $3.2 million – The funds will be used to purchase two care facilities to support individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Kindred Community and Rural Fire Protection District – $1.1 million – The funds will be used to expand the Kindred fire hall to accommodate training and storage of equipment and emergency gear.
  • Walhalla Community Hospital Association – $950,000 – The funds will be used to renovate and build additions on the Pembilier Nursing Center.

“Today’s Rural Development loans are investments in our local communities,” said Hoeven. “These loans will help expand and improve important facilities for UTTC and the Dickinson, Kindred and Walhalla communities.”
