Hoeven Announces $11.2 Million Grant to Support Comprehensive Literacy Education in North Dakota

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded $11.2 million to the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) to support literacy instruction for students from birth through high school. This is the first year award of an anticipated three year grant and supports subgrants from NDDPI to local education agencies and other eligible entities.

“These funds will help local educators implement a comprehensive program to improve reading and writing skills for children of all ages,” Hoeven said. “This is an investment in the future success of our students and will help empower them to pursue meaningful and productive lives.”
