DESCRIPTION:Senator John Hoeven will host U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Acting Commissioner Kevin McAleenan to review current CBP unmanned aerial systems (UAS) operations at Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB) and to tour potential sites\, including Grand Sky Technology Park\, for CBP’s new UAS operations and training facility. Hoeven and McAleenan will also review plans for a new Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) building at CBP’s Pembina Port of Entry. Hoeven worked to secure nearly $14 million in the recently passed FY17 funding legislation to support border operations in the Grand Forks Region\, including $8 million for a new facility to keep CBP’s UAS operations in Grand Forks and $5.7 million for the APHIS inspection facility at the Pembina Port of Entry.  \nMedia is invited to join Hoeven and McAleenan on a walking tour of CBP’s current facility and to discuss the new CBP and APHIS facilities and review potential sites for the new UAS facility on base and at Grand Sky Technology Park.
