SUMMARY:Drayton Levee Review
DESCRIPTION:Senator Hoeven will be in Drayton to review the levee on the Red River. It is constructed on property that was bought out with federal FEMA dollars\, and the agency is trying to force its removal. Senator Hoeven has legislation that would allow the levee in Drayton and ones like it in other cities to remain as long as the “construction constitutes part of a flood control project and conforms to other criteria as established by FEMA policy.” \nWhile the legislation is moving – it has already been passed by the Appropriations Committee – Hoeven asked FEMA on Drayton’s behalf for a six-month extension on removing the levee. This week\, Hoeven announced that FEMA approved Drayton’s request. \nWHEN: Tuesday\, July 2612:00 p.m. CT \nWHERE: City Hall122 S Main StreetDrayton

DESCRIPTION:Senator John Hoeven will be in Fargo on Monday\, July 11\, to deliver remarks during the Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) signing ceremony. The signing marks the beginning of the construction phase of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project\, which includes building a 30-mile diversion channel that will direct floodwater around the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Shaun Donovan. Last year\, Hoeven hosted Lt. Gen. Gene Migliaccio Dr. P.H.\, Deputy Chief Business Officer for Purchased Care\, of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Veterans Health Administration\, and Matthew Ruest\, Vice President of Government Services Field Operations for Health Net\, will also be in attendance. Hoeven has been pushing the VA to send a representative to Fargo to see firsthand the issues that veterans face when scheduling non-VA care appointments. \nHoeven has been working with the Fargo VA to try and resolve scheduling and service issues arising from the use of a third party administrator\, Health Net. The senator pressed the VA to set up a pilot program\, similar to what is being done in Alaska\, which would allow the Fargo VA to directly schedule appointments under the Veterans Choice Program as opposed to relying on a third party administrator. \nWHEN: Friday\, April 1 \n1:30 p.m. CT \nWHERE: Cass County Courthouse\, Cass County Commission Room\n211 9th Street South\nFargo
