Hoeven Statement on Today's Announcement that Badlands NGL Will Build a New $4 Billion Facility in ND

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to Badland’s NGL’s announcement today that it will proceed with the development, construction, start-up and operation of a new natural gas liquids (NGL) sourced ethane gas to polyethylene manufacturing facility in North Dakota. The project is expected to cost approximately $4 billion.

“The Badlands NGL project illustrates clearly how we can create jobs, grow our economy and do so with good environmental stewardship. This facility will enable us to reduce flaring in North Dakota and also reduce emissions where the natural gas is used by industry, and at the same time, create good jobs and opportunities for North Dakotans.

“Further, today’s announcement affirms once again that companies will innovate and make major investments with good environmental stewardship when they have the business environment they need to do so with confidence. That’s the kind of business climate we worked for more than a decade to build in North Dakota, along with a comprehensive energy plan called Empower ND that encourages the kinds of synergies in the field we’re seeing with this project. I look forward to meeting with the company and doing all we can in the future to help this project through to completion.”
