Hoeven Announces $100K in Federal Funding for Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians to Address Suicide, Substance Abuse

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations and Indian Affairs Committees, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Indian Health Services Office has awarded $100,000 to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. The funds are made available through HHS’ Methamphetamine and Suicide Prevention Initiative (MSPI), which works to promote effective prevention and treatment approaches to methamphetamine abuse and suicide prevention.

“Individuals battling substance abuse and depression need support,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grant will help provide that support by working to prevent the use of methamphetamine, increase access to suicide prevention services and improve services for behavioral health issues that are associated with methamphetamine use.”
