Hoeven: Manvel Elementary, Sweetwater Elementary Named National Blue Ribbon Schools

BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today congratulated Manvel Elementary and Sweetwater Elementary Schools on being designated as 2014 National Blue Ribbon School Award Winners by the United States Department of Education.

“The Blue Ribbon designation is a mark of excellence and celebrates the hard work of the educators and students at Sweetwater Elementary and Manvel Elementary School,” said Hoeven. “We are proud of these schools and their communities for being recognized nationally for their academic excellence.”

The North Dakota schools named 2014 Blue Ribbon Schools will be formally recognized by the Department of Education at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. in November.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was founded in 1982 to recognize the work of the nation’s top schools. Since the program’s founding, the blue ribbon distinction has been awarded to schools achieving impressive results through exemplary teaching practices. To date, more than 7,500 schools have received the designation.
